Simrita has 15 years of experience in fast fashion, design, luxury retail & manufacturing. She opened the first ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA store in India in December 1999 and the first HUGO BOSS store in India in June 2003 in New Delhi. In 2002, Simrita founded a networking club called the ‘Fashion Professionals Club’ (FPC) in Milan where she started presenting India to various Italian brands. In 2005, she started a consulting company (King Krishna Luxury Advisory Services Pvt Ltd: Brand Name SANDA) to advice various international brands interested in the Indian market.
From 2005 to date, Simrita also holds the position of Creative Director, GOLMAAL stores (a vertically integrated made-in-India women’s wear line for women who want affordable contemporary fashion) where she is responsible of giving the brand a unique identity and has created over 4000 commercial fast fashion designs. She works with craftsmen and tailors to ensure welfare needs are met. Trained over a 100 women to a free tailoring education via an innovating tailoring school concept at the SIGPL manufacturing facility in India. She is responsible for developing the E-commerce & digital marketing strategy for GOLMAAL. In 2013, Simrita was nominated by the FORTUNE/ U.S. Department of State Global Women’s Mentorship Program (part of the FORTUNE most powerful women summit). She was mentored by Laurie Ann Goldman, ex-CEO (SPANX) and Sara Blakely, Founder (SPANX). Patti Sellers, Editor-at-Large of Fortune Magazine and Co-chair, Fortune Most powerful Women Summit touted the nominated women as the future change leaders of the next decade. Simrita received a federal assistance award by the US Consulate in November 2013. In 2014, SANDA entered into a collaboration agreement with Texere Advisors, as Partner, (South Asia), Texere Advisors.
She is a fashion writer & commentator occasionally for VOGUE India, HARPERS BAZAAR India, IMAGES MAGAZINE, VERVE, MAN’S WORLD, FASHION magazine, Milan Italy. She was the editor of VOGUE‘s first men’s supplement at Condenast INDIA. Simrita holds an MBA from SDA BOCCONI, Milan, Italy with a focus in fashion & design and she is fluent in English & Italian.
